This image was made using a modified camera sensitive to infrared light, combined with a filter which blocks the majority of visible light.

Since the filter permits a small amount of red visible light to enter the camera, the result is not completely monochromatic. Subtle differences between the way the camera sees red light versus infrared light can be used to produce a false-color image like this one.
